Alright, let’s talk about this Memphis somethin’-somethin’, the Memphis mascot, you know? I ain’t no fancy writer or nothin’, just gonna tell it like it is, like how we talk down in the country.
First off, this Memphis team, they used to be somewhere else, right? Up in Canada, I think. Can you believe it? Then they come down here to Memphis and call themselves the Grizzlies. Now, grizzlies, them’s some big ol’ bears, ain’t they? Scary too, with them claws and all. I reckon that’s why they got them sharp lookin’ letters on their logo. Someone said they look like claws, and I guess they kinda do.
But the real fun part is the mascot, this fella they call Grizz. Now, back when they were in that Canada place, Grizz looked like a real bear, all brown and furry, kinda chubby too. But when they moved here, they changed him up. Made him blue, all muscly and stuff. I ain’t sure why they did that, maybe to make him look tougher, I don’t know. But he’s still a bear, just a blue one now.
- Team History: They weren’t always the Memphis team, you know. Started way up north, then came down here.
- Logo Talk: Them letters, they ain’t just regular letters. They sharp, like a bear’s claws. Someone smart figured that out.
- Mascot Change: Used to be a brown, furry bear, now he’s blue and strong lookin’. Still a bear, though.
And then there’s somethin’ about some tigers, but they ain’t the Grizzlies mascot. They belong to some college team, the Memphis Tigers, I think. They got a tiger mascot named TOM, been around since way back when. Three different tigers, all named TOM. That’s kinda neat, I guess. But we’re talkin’ about the Grizzlies mascot, so let’s stick to that.
Now, these logos and mascots, they ain’t just for show, you know. They mean somethin’. They tell a story, like someone told me. They tell you about the team, where they come from, what they stand for. Like, the Grizzlies, they wanna be tough and strong, like a bear. And the blue color, maybe that’s for Memphis, I don’t know. But it all means somethin’, that’s for sure.
People get all excited about these mascots, cheering and hollering when they see ’em. Kids love ’em too, always wantin’ to take pictures and get autographs. It’s all part of the fun, I reckon. Makes the games more lively, you know? Grizz dances around, gets the crowd goin’, it’s a whole thing. He’s a part of the team, just like the players are.
So, that’s the deal with the Memphis mascot, as far as I can tell. He’s a blue bear, used to be a brown bear, and he’s there to get folks excited about the team. And them letters on the logo, they sharp like claws. It all fits together, I guess. Just like how a good quilt is made, all the pieces comin’ together to make somethin’ special. That’s how I see it, anyway.
Teams and Mascots in General, you see ‘em everywhere. Every team has one, seems like. Animals, people, sometimes just a blob with eyes. But they all have a job to do, to get folks riled up and supportin’ their team. And the Memphis mascot, he does a good job of that, I reckon. He’s fun to watch, and he makes the games more excitin’. That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it?
Now, I ain’t no expert on sports or nothin’, but I know what I like. And I like a good mascot, one that’s got some personality and gets the crowd involved. And this blue bear, he fits the bill. He’s a good representation of the team, tough and strong, just like they wanna be. So, next time you see him dancin’ around on the sidelines, you’ll know a little bit more about him and where he came from. And that’s all I got to say about that.
