Alright, let’s talk about this NXT pay-per-view thing, or whatever them young folks call it these days. I ain’t too sure about all these fancy names, but I reckon it’s like them wrasslin’ shows we used to watch on that old black and white TV.
So, from what I hear, these NXT events, they mostly happen on Sundays. Now, Sundays used to be for church and family dinners, but I guess times have changed. They say these shows go on for a good two or three hours. That’s a mighty long time to be sittin’ and watchin’, but if it’s good wrasslin’, I suppose it’s worth it.
I heard tell they got new episodes of somethin’ called Raw on somethin’ called Peacock. Sounds like a fancy bird, but it ain’t no chicken, that’s for sure. They say them shows show up on this Peacock thingy a whole month after they’re on TV. Don’t make no sense to me, why wait so long? Back in my day, if you missed it, you missed it. That was that.
Now, these big wrasslin’ matches, they got special names and dates and all. Let me see if I can get this straight. They had one called Royal Rumble back in 2021, in January, I think. Then there was this Vangeance Day, in February, same year. And somethin’ about an Elimination Chamber too? Too many names for an old lady like me to remember, but they sure do like to make a big fuss about ’em.
- Royal Rumble 2021: January 31st, in Florida.
- NXT Takeover: Vangeance Day 2021: February 14th, also in Florida.
- Elimination Chamber 2021: February 21st, back in Florida.
They even had somethin’ called WWE RAW: Day 1 this year, in 2024. Out in San Diego. That’s a far piece from here, I tell ya. I ain’t never been to California, but I hear it’s nice. Though I reckon it ain’t got nothin’ on my ol’ porch swing and a glass of sweet tea.
They call these big shows pay-per-view or livestreaming supercards. Sounds mighty important, don’t it? I guess you gotta pay extra to watch ’em, which seems a bit silly to me. Back in the day, wrasslin’ was on regular TV, and everybody could watch. But I guess that’s just how things are now.
And they got these house shows too, they call ’em. They travel around to different places, puttin’ on shows. I ain’t seen one of them in ages, not since… well, never you mind about that. They say they put out a schedule for these shows, so you know when they’re comin’ to your town. But I reckon they don’t come around here much anymore. Too busy with all them fancy pay-per-views, I guess.
So, that’s what I know about these NXT pay-per-views. It’s a whole lot different from the wrasslin’ I grew up with, but I reckon it’s still about the same thing: big fellas in tights, pretendin’ to beat each other up. And as long as folks are havin’ fun watchin’, I guess that’s all that matters. Just don’t ask me to remember all them names and dates, ’cause this old brain ain’t what it used to be.
And another thing, these young wrestlers, they’re always jumpin’ around and doin’ flips and all that. Back in my day, it was more about the holds and the slams. You know, real wrasslin’. But I guess that’s what the young folks like these days. Makes me tired just watchin’ ’em, though.
Anyway, if you’re into this newfangled wrasslin’, I guess these NXT pay-per-views are the thing to watch. Just make sure you got your money ready, ’cause they ain’t givin’ it away for free. And if you see me noddin’ off in the corner, don’t you mind. It’s just this old lady needs her rest, even if there’s wrasslin’ on the TV.
