Okay, so I was browsing the internet the other day, just killing time, and I stumbled upon this interesting question: “Which NBA players are Jehovah’s Witnesses?” It got me curious, so I decided to do a little digging of my own.
I started by hitting up Google, naturally. I typed in the question and started scrolling through the results. The first thing I noticed was that there were a few names that kept popping up.
Danny Granger was one of them. Apparently, he’s been a Jehovah’s Witness for a while now. Then there was A.C. Green, a former NBA player who’s also a committed member of the faith.
I kept digging, and I found a few more names: Darren Collison and Dewayne Dedmon. It seems like there are quite a few NBA players who identify as Jehovah’s Witnesses.
- Dewayne Dedmon
- Danny Granger
- Darren Collison
- A.C. Green
As I read more, I found out that there are actually three current and ex-NBA players who are Jehovah’s Witnesses. Dewayne Dedmon, who currently plays for the Miami Heat, was apparently raised as a Jehovah’s Witness. And then there are former Indiana Pacers teammates Danny Granger and Darren Collison.
Then it hit me that Darren Collison actually retired from the NBA for a few years to focus on his faith and help the less fortunate through the Jehovah’s Witness faith. That’s pretty interesting, I thought. It takes a lot of commitment to put your career on hold like that. It’s not every day you see someone walk away from a successful NBA career to dedicate their life to their faith.
So, after all that, it looks like there’s a small but dedicated group of NBA players who are Jehovah’s Witnesses. It’s cool to see how these guys balance their faith with their careers. And it just goes to show you, you can find all sorts of interesting stuff when you’re just browsing the internet!
