Yesterday, I tried out this thing called a “Shamble” in golf. Never heard of it before, but it sounded interesting, so I rounded up a few buddies, and we hit the course to give it a shot.
First off, let me tell you, it’s way different than how we usually play. We usually just do our own thing, you know, count every stroke. But this Shamble thing, it’s a team game. We started out like normal, everyone teed off on the first hole.
- Took some mighty swings, some not so mighty.
- We looked at where all our balls landed.
- Then we picked the best drive out of the bunch.
That’s where it got interesting. We all moved our balls to where the best drive landed. Then, from there, we each played our own ball until we sank it in the hole. We wrote down everyone’s scores after each hole.
We kept this up for all 18 holes, picking the best drive each time, then playing our own shots from that spot. It was kind of cool because even if you had a bad tee shot, you still got a chance to recover thanks to your teammates.
My Thoughts
Honestly, it was a fun change of pace. It made us work together more, which we don’t usually do. Plus, it took a little pressure off, knowing you weren’t stuck with a terrible shot if you messed up. I’d definitely play a Shamble again. It’s a good way to shake things up and have some laughs on the course. We even talked about making it a regular thing. Maybe once a month, we could do a Shamble instead of our usual game. It was that fun. I hope our next game can make me happy again.
