Okay, so, today I wanna talk about this crazy thing that happened at a St. Thomas baseball game – a collision. I was looking into it, just browsing, you know, and I stumbled upon this whole St. Thomas University thing. Turns out, it’s a Catholic university, pretty diverse from what I gathered. They seem big on setting up their students for success, making them into, like, ethical leaders and stuff. Sounds serious, right?
So, I dug a little deeper. I checked out their programs catalog – they have a bunch of academic programs. I guess it makes sense, being a university and all. Then I went to their athletics page, ’cause the whole collision thing was about baseball. They’re called the Bobcats, which is kinda cool. Their admissions page talked about how the university started over 60 years ago. That’s a long time! It’s like, ancient history, for a university.
Finding More Details
I also found out they’re launching three new sports programs in Fall 2020. That was in some news from their library, I think. This whole online search thing led me down this rabbit hole. I ended up on their self-service portal after what it seemed to be a successful sign in but didn’t explore much there. It was kind of a dead-end, not what I was looking for.
- Browsed St. Thomas University website.
- Found info on their academic and athletic programs.
- Learned about their history and new sports programs.
This whole search started because I was curious about the speed and velocity in constant motion versus changing velocity. Really had nothing to do with the baseball thing, but that’s how my brain works sometimes. You know, it’s like, one minute you’re thinking about physics, the next you’re reading about a university in Florida. Funny how that works.
The Realization
Then I was reading about psychological acute or posttraumatic stress disorders. It was a totally random find. It mentioned something about how many people seek treatment. I couldn’t find the exact quote though, It’s like, when you need something specific, it just vanishes.
This whole experience reminded me of a blog post I read once about the gSpan algorithm, something about mining frequent patterns in graphs. I was just starting to understand it then. Just like when I am reading a question that broke down into an easy-to-learn solution that I could count on. It said something like, “Question 4 (2.5 points) Which of the following will not produce an outward shift of.”
Connecting the Dots
Sometimes it really helps to go back to the original source. It was like when I found the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website. That was useful for something else I was researching, totally unrelated to the baseball collision or St. Thomas University. But, hey, that’s research for you, right? Always leading you to unexpected places. So that made me think of the close-knit community on a 356-acre suburban campus in Dover, Delaware. You know, it’s just a short drive from Philly, Baltimore, and D.C. Kind of makes you think about how everything’s connected, in a weird way. Just like the patients on blood thinners such as Coumadin, which just popped into my head for some reason.
Anyway, that was my little adventure down the internet rabbit hole today, all sparked by reading about that baseball collision at St. Thomas. Just goes to show, you never know where a simple search will lead you!
