Alright, let me tell you about my experience with John Daly Cigars. I’ve been meaning to try these for a while, ever since I heard about them. Figured, “Why not? Let’s give ‘em a shot.”

First, I went online and ordered a sampler pack. Gotta try a few different ones to see what’s what, right? It showed up a few days later, and the packaging was… well, it was alright. Nothing super fancy, but decent enough. Inside, there were a few different varieties – I think I got a Connecticut, a Maduro, and something else… can’t quite remember. Maybe a Habano?
I started with the Connecticut. Pulled it out, gave it a good once-over. Looked pretty well constructed. Cut the end with my usual guillotine cutter, nice and clean. Then, I toasted the foot, making sure it was evenly lit all the way around. This is important, you don’t want one side burning faster than the other.
First few puffs… not bad! It was pretty mild, creamy even. The aroma was nice and subtle. I smoked it slowly, just enjoying the peace and quiet on my back porch. It burned pretty evenly, which is always a good sign. Didn’t have to relight it too many times, which is a pet peeve of mine.
Next up, I tried the Maduro. This one had a darker wrapper, obviously. Smelled a bit sweeter, more of a chocolatey kind of thing. Same process – cut, toast, and light. Right away, it was a lot more robust than the Connecticut. Earthier, spicier… definitely a kick to it. Smoked that one while I was grilling some burgers – went pretty well with the smoky flavor of the grill.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from these cigars. I mean, they’re celebrity-branded, and sometimes those can be hit or miss. But I was pleasantly surprised. They’re not gonna blow you away, but they’re solid, everyday smokes. Good for golfing, hanging out with friends, or just chilling after a long day.
The last one, whatever it was (probably a Habano), was somewhere in between the other two. Not as mild as the Connecticut, but not as strong as the Maduro. A good middle-of-the-road option.
Would I buy them again? Yeah, probably. They’re reasonably priced, and they’re a decent smoke. They’re not my absolute favorite, but they’re definitely worth having in the humidor for when you just want something easy and enjoyable. I’d say give them a shot, you might be surprised!
