Alright, let me tell you about my little adventure with these PGA Tour men’s shorts. It wasn’t exactly a planned expedition, you know? My old trusty pair of khaki shorts, the ones I wore for pretty much every weekend round of golf, finally gave up the ghost. A big ol’ rip right near the pocket. So, the hunt began.

I started just browsing online, looking for golf shorts. Saw a bunch of brands, the usual suspects. Then I stumbled upon some labeled “PGA Tour”. Now, I’m not pretending I’m gonna play like those pros, not even close. But the name caught my eye. Figured, hey, if it’s got that name on it, maybe they’re built decent, you know? For actual golfing.
The Search and Decision
So, I dug a bit deeper. Wasn’t looking for anything fancy. My main things were:
- Comfort: Gotta be able to walk 18 holes without feeling like I’m wrapped in plastic.
- Flexibility: Need to swing a club, bend down to tee up, mark my ball, all that stuff without feeling restricted.
- Pockets: Deep enough for a couple of balls, tees, a marker, maybe my glove tucked in the back. Standard stuff.
- Looks: Didn’t need high fashion, just something presentable. A solid color, probably navy or grey.
Found a pair of the PGA Tour brand shorts online that looked okay. Simple flat front, seemed like a decent material described as moisture-wicking or something like that. The price wasn’t outrageous either, kind of middle-of-the-road. Pulled the trigger and ordered a pair in navy blue.
First Impressions and Wearing Them
They arrived pretty quick. First thing I did was try them on. The fit was alright, maybe a tad looser than my old ones, but comfortable. The material felt light, a bit stretchy which was good. Walked around the house, did a few practice swings in the living room – seemed promising.
The real test came that Saturday. Headed out to the local course. It was a warm day, perfect for seeing how these shorts handled heat.

Here’s what I noticed during the round:
- Comfort was good. Seriously, didn’t really think about them much, which is usually a good sign. They didn’t cling or feel heavy, even when I started sweating a bit on the back nine.
- The stretch was noticeable. Bending down to read a putt or picking up my ball felt easy, no pulling or tightness.
- Pockets were okay. Held my stuff fine. Maybe could be a tiny bit deeper, but no major complaints. My glove stayed put in the back pocket.
- Breathability seemed decent. I felt relatively cool considering the temperature. Better than my old cotton ones for sure.
After a Few Washes
Been wearing them pretty regularly now for golf and sometimes just knocking around on warm days. Thrown them in the wash several times. They seem to be holding up okay. The color hasn’t faded much, and the material feels about the same. No shrinking or weird stretching out of shape. They dry really fast too, which is a plus.
So, yeah. That’s my experience. Started with a ripped pair of old shorts, saw the PGA Tour name, gave them a shot. They turned out to be pretty solid, comfortable shorts for playing golf or just warm weather. Nothing earth-shattering, but they do the job I needed them to do without any fuss. Just a practical piece of gear that works. Sometimes, that’s all you need.
