My Grind Through Grease and Glory
Alright, so the other day this “Grease and Glory” thing popped up in Monopoly GO. Looked kinda neat, you know, different theme. I figured, why not, let’s see what it’s about. So, I jumped into the game like usual.

First thing, just started rolling. Doing my normal laps around the board, collecting rent, upgrading my buildings. Then I noticed these special event tokens sitting on some tiles. Ah, okay, so that’s the goal. Land on those spots, collect the tokens. Simple enough, right? Well…
Getting Into It
Turns out, you needed a whole bunch of those tokens to get anywhere serious in the event prize list. My first few runs around the board only got me a handful. I realized I couldn’t just play passively. Had to actually aim for those tiles.
So, I started managing my dice rolls a bit more. Sometimes using a higher multiplier when I thought I had a good chance of hitting a token space. Burned through dice pretty fast doing that, though. Had a few lucky streaks where I landed on Railroads and got those big tournament points which sometimes helped indirectly, or got event tokens from Chance cards. That was always nice.
- Started by just playing normally.
- Quickly saw I needed way more event tokens.
- Began focusing rolls on event tiles.
- Used multipliers, which drained dice faster.
- Looked for other ways to get tokens (Chance, tournaments).
The Middle Stretch – The Real Work
This is where it felt like work, honestly. Some sessions I’d just keep missing the spots I needed. Land on Go To Jail right before a cluster of tokens, you know how it is. Super frustrating. Ran out of dice completely a couple of times.
Had to rely on the daily freebies, finishing quick win tasks, and sometimes just waiting for the dice to refill over time. I wasn’t about to spend real money, just not my style. I also made sure to complete landmark levels whenever I could, because sometimes the rewards wheel gave me dice or cash that helped keep me going in the event. It was a slow burn some days.

Finishing Up – Glory (Sort Of)
I kept at it though. Got into a rhythm. Managed my dice better, learned which multipliers felt right for certain board positions. Started racking up more tokens. Climbed up the event leaderboard a bit, which felt good. Saw those reward tiers getting closer.
In the end, I managed to grab most of the prizes I was aiming for. Got a decent pile of dice back, a good chunk of in-game cash, and I think I unlocked one of the special shields or maybe it was a player token, can’t recall exactly. Didn’t get the grand prize at the very end, think I was just short on time or maybe dice. But overall? Pretty satisfied.
It took a fair bit of playing, lots of screen time just tapping that roll button. Was it worth the “grease”? Yeah, I guess so. Got some useful stuff out of it. That’s the game with these events – you put in the effort, you get rewarded. Kept me occupied, anyway. Onto the next one, I suppose.
