My Journey with the CeeDee Lamb Auto
Alright, let’s talk about this CeeDee Lamb auto thing. It wasn’t like I woke up one day and just had one. Nah, it became a bit of an obsession for a while there, another rabbit hole I probably shouldn’t have gone down.

It started pretty simply. Watching the Cowboys, Lamb makes a crazy catch, and I’m thinking, “Man, this guy’s electric.” Then I’m browsing cards online, just looking, you know? Big mistake. You see one cool card, then another, and suddenly you’re checking prices on autographed stuff.
The Search Begins
So, I decided I wanted one. Not just any card, but an auto. Signed by the man himself. First step, obviously, was hitting the usual online spots. Ebay, mostly. Man, talk about a time sink.
- Scrolling through hundreds of listings.
- Comparing grainy photos, trying to figure out if the signature looked legit.
- Watching auctions tick down, heart pounding like I was bidding on a house.
Prices were all over the map. Some seemed too good to be true, probably were. Others were astronomical, way out of my league. I felt like I was panning for gold, sifting through tons of dirt hoping for a tiny nugget.
Hitting the Bricks (Sort Of)

Got tired of the screen after a while. Thought maybe I’d have better luck locally. Drove down to this card shop across town, the one run by that old guy, Dave. Place is packed floor to ceiling, smells like history and maybe a bit of dust. I asked him straight up, “Got any CeeDee Lamb autos?” He just kinda chuckled, looked over his glasses. “Son,” he said, “if I did, they wouldn’t last five minutes in that case.” Fair enough.
It reminded me of this time years ago, trying to hunt down a specific vintage amplifier. Spent weekends hitting pawn shops, garage sales, annoying my wife because every “quick stop” turned into an hour of digging through junk. It’s the hunt, I guess. Sometimes more fun than the actual catch.
The Reality Check
Had to face facts. These things aren’t cheap, especially for a star player like Lamb. Had a little chat with myself, looked at the budget. Couldn’t justify dropping huge money on a piece of cardboard, signed or not. Priorities, right? Needed new tires for the car, kid needed braces soon… real life stuff.
Finally Getting It Done

So I adjusted my expectations. Maybe not a perfect, gem mint, rookie patch auto. Started looking for something more… attainable. Found one eventually. A sticker auto, not on-card, and the card itself wasn’t the flashiest. But the price was right, within the budget I’d mentally (and guiltily) set aside.
Clicked “Buy It Now.” Waited for the mail like a kid waiting for Christmas. When it arrived, ripped open the package. There it was. CeeDee Lamb’s signature, stuck right there. Wasn’t the Mona Lisa, wasn’t gonna fund my retirement, but it felt good to finally have it in hand. Mission accomplished, scratched that itch. Now it sits on my desk, a reminder of the hunt. Probably time to find a new obsession, though. Maybe fixing that leaky faucet finally.
