Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this idea of tracking golf major winners. You know, the big ones: The Masters, U.S. Open, The Open Championship, and the PGA Championship. These are like the Super Bowls of golf, and I wanted to get a better handle on who’s won them over the years.

First, I started by just doing a bunch of searches online. I was like a kid in a candy store, jumping from one page to another, trying to soak up as much info as possible. There’s a ton of stuff out there, but it’s all scattered. So, I started to jot down names and years, just basic stuff, you know?
Then, I thought, “Hey, I should organize this somehow.” So, I fired up a spreadsheet. Yeah, I know, not very exciting, but it gets the job done. I started plugging in the winners for each major, year by year. It was a bit tedious, I won’t lie, but it was also kind of cool to see it all take shape.
- The Masters
- U.S. Open
- The Open Championship
- PGA Championship
As I was doing this, I started to notice some patterns. Like, certain names kept popping up, like Tiger Woods, obviously. And I started to get a feel for the different eras of golf, which players dominated when, and so on.
Now, my spreadsheet isn’t perfect. I’m sure there are some errors in there, and it’s definitely not complete. But it’s a start. And it’s been a fun little project. I was surprised how many golfers won the major championships, 233 golfers. It’s like, you watch these tournaments on TV, and you see the same faces, but then you dig a little deeper, and you realize there’s this whole history there that you never even knew about.
I also tried to find some cool stories about these major wins. You know, the legendary shots, the dramatic finishes, the underdogs who came out of nowhere. Stuff like that. It really adds another layer to it all.

What’s Next?
I think I’m going to keep working on this. Maybe try to fill in some of the gaps in my spreadsheet. And maybe do some more reading about some of the lesser-known winners. It’s like this whole world has opened up to me, and I’m excited to explore it. This might be helpful for someone who wants to explore major golf winners.
Anyway, that’s my little golf project. It’s not much, but it’s mine. And I thought I’d share it with you all. Hope you found it interesting. This is my first time sharing, so be kind to me.
