Okay, so I wanted to make some predictions for the ATP Geneva tournament. I’ve been following tennis for a while, and I thought it would be fun to try and put my “expertise” to the test. Plus, who knows, maybe I’ll even win some bragging rights with my buddies.

First, I needed to get up to speed on who was even playing in Geneva. I grabbed my phone and started looking at the draw. It’s a smaller tournament, an ATP 250, so it’s not like all the biggest names are there, but there are still some solid players.
Getting the Data
I needed some, you know, actual information to base my brilliant predictions on. So the data collecting starts.
- Player Form: Who’s been playing well lately? Who’s been slumping? I went browsing the ATP website, checking out recent results, looking for any patterns.
- Head-to-Head Records: Have these guys played each other before? Who usually wins? This can be a big clue, especially on clay.
- Clay Court Prowess: Some players are just beasts on clay, while others struggle. I needed to factor that in, big time. I dug into some player stats, looking for clay court win percentages and stuff like that.
Making the Predictions
Armed with my newly acquired knowledge and some gut feeling. It was just a matter of going through the matchups and making my picks.
For example, in the first round, I noticed that Player A had been on a hot streak, winning his last five matches. Player B, on the other hand, had lost his last three. Plus, Player A had a winning record against Player B on clay. Easy pick, right? I went with Player A.
I went through each match like that, weighing the different factors. Some picks were tougher than others. There were a few matches where the players were pretty evenly matched, or where I didn’t have much data to go on. In those cases, I mostly just went with my gut. It’s not super scientific, but hey, it’s part of the fun.

The Final Result
After making all my picks, I started inputting them in a simple text file. I just wrote down the matches and my predicted winners. Nothing fancy.
Honestly, I’m not expecting to get them all right. Predicting sports is tough! But it was a fun exercise, and it definitely made me feel more invested in the tournament. Now I’ve got some skin in the game, even if it’s just bragging rights. We’ll see how I do!
