Okay, so today I decided to get back on the court and work on my game, focusing on Darius Robinson’s basketball skills. I’ve been watching some of his highlights and wanted to try and incorporate some of his moves into my own play.

First, I started with a simple warm-up.
- Some light jogging around the court.
- Dynamic stretches, you know, arm circles, leg swings, the usual.
- Then did a bit of static stretching, focusing on hamstrings and calves.
Shooting Practice
I focused on shooting drills. I noticed Robinson has a really quick release, so I tried to emulate that.
- I started close to the basket, just working on my form.
- Making sure my elbow was in and I was following through properly.
- Then I gradually moved back, shooting from different spots around the key.
- I also practiced some catch-and-shoot situations, really trying to get the shot off quickly like Robinson.
It was tough! My release definitely isn’t as fast as his, but I could feel myself getting a little quicker with each shot. I must have taken at least a hundred shots, just repeating the motion over and over.
I kept practicing shooting for a while, and I definitely felt myself getting into a rhythm, also my arms getting tired.

Ball-Handling Drills
Next, I moved onto ball-handling. Robinson is super shifty with the ball, so I wanted to work on my crossovers and between-the-legs dribbles.
- I started with some basic stationary drills.
- Just getting a feel for the ball.
- Dribbling low and hard.
- Then I started incorporating some moves.
- Crossovers, between-the-legs, behind-the-back, the whole shebang.
I’m not gonna lie, I fumbled the ball a lot at first. But I kept at it, and after a while, I started to feel more comfortable. I even managed to pull off a few quick crossovers that felt pretty smooth, kind of like I saw Robinson do.
Putting It All Together
Finally, I tried to put it all together. Some one-on-one moves against an imaginary defender, that is my dog who sat on court.
- I drove to the basket.
- Using some of the moves I’d practiced.
- Trying to finish with a quick shot.
It was definitely challenging, especially trying to combine the quick dribbling with the fast release. I missed a lot of shots, but I also made a few that felt really good. It was a good workout, and I felt like I got a little bit better today. I’m definitely going to keep practicing these moves and watching more of Darius Robinson for inspiration!
