Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this fella, Dave Serrano. Sounds like a big shot, ya know? Dave Serrano, they keep sayin’ his name over and over. He’s been around the block, that’s for sure.
First off, they say he used to be a pitcher himself. Yeah, throwin’ them balls, I guess. Then he started teachin’ young fellas how to do it. Been coachin’ all over the place, from what I hear. Started way back when, in the eighties, at some place called Cerritos College. Then he went on to another college, California State University, Fullerton. That was a long time ago, y’know.
- Cerritos College (1984-1985)
- California State University, Fullerton (1986-1987)
- University of California, Irvine (2005-2007)
Then, after a while, he went to coach at the University of California, Irvine. That was in the 2000s. He’s been movin’ around a lot, seems like. Folks talk about him bein’ a head coach at University of Tennessee too. That’s a big deal, I reckon. Folks in Knoxville, they know him, that’s for sure.
Now, he’s coachin’ somewhere else, California State University, Northridge. They call ‘em the Matadors, somethin’ like that. People say he’s a real winner, knows his stuff. He’s been doin’ this for a long, long time, so I guess he must be pretty good at it.
Heard tell he even coached some famous players. There’s this fella, Todd Helton, they say he played for Dave Serrano. Big shot baseball player, I hear. They even got pictures together, Dave Serrano and this Todd Helton fella. Seems like they’re good buddies, or somethin’.
And this Dave Serrano, he ain’t just coachin’ college boys, no sir. He’s been up in Alaska, coachin’ a team called the Anchorage Glacier Pilots. Sounds cold up there! Guess he just loves teachin’ folks how to play ball, no matter where he is.
They say he’s real good at helpin’ young players get better. Player development, they call it. Teachin’ ‘em how to throw and hit and all that. Guess that’s important if you wanna win games. And winnin’ seems to be somethin’ Dave Serrano knows a thing or two about.
He even talks on them podcast things, you know, the ones on the internet. He’s sharin’ his secrets, tellin’ folks how he does it. Guess he ain’t shy about sharin’ his knowledge. That’s good, I reckon. Helpin’ others learn, that’s important.
Some folks even talk about him comin’ back to Knoxville for another coachin’ job. Seems like folks like him there. He’s been around, that’s for sure. From California to Tennessee to Alaska, coachin’ all sorts of teams and players.
He’s always talkin’ about his players, names like Will Maddox, Scott Price, A.J. Simcox and Christin Stewart. He remembers them boys, talks about them comin’ back, playin’ better. He cares about them kids, you can tell. That’s important, ya know, more than just winnin’ games, treatin’ folks right.
So yeah, that’s what I know about Dave Serrano. He’s a baseball coach, a good one from what I hear. Been coachin’ a long time, all over the place. He’s a winner, they say. He helps young players get better, and he seems like a decent fella. And that’s about all I got to say about that. He’s just a baseball man, plain and simple.
