Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this David Benavidez fella, the one they’re all yappin’ about. Seems like he’s a real tough cookie in that boxing ring, you know? I ain’t no expert or nothin’, but from what I hear, he’s been knockin’ folks around left and right.
This David Benavidez scorecard thing, it’s like a report card for how he’s doin’ in his fights, I reckon. They got these judges, see, and they sit there watchin’ the whole thing. They give each fighter points for how well they’re doin’ – punchin’ hard, dodgin’ punches, you name it.
Now, this Benavidez boy, they say he’s a puncher. A real hard hitter. Folks are sayin’ he’s got that “power,” you know? The kind that can put a fella to sleep real quick. Heard tell he made this other fighter, Demetrius Andrade, quit right there in his corner. Just couldn’t take no more beatin’, I guess. Andrade was supposed to be pretty good too, hadn’t lost before, but Benavidez, he just pulverized him, they said. Made him quit right on his stool after the sixth round. That’s some serious beatin’, if you ask me.
And this Canelo fella, the big shot, he don’t wanna fight Benavidez. Says he makes good money fightin’ other folks and don’t need to bother with him. Maybe he’s scared, maybe he ain’t, but folks are talkin’. They’re sayin’ Canelo’s duckin’ Benavidez, not wanting none of that “power” I was tellin’ you about. Said somethin’ about a “rehydration clause” too, but I ain’t got no clue what that is. Sounded like fancy talk to me.
- They say Benavidez is “underrated” but also “over-polarized”. Don’t rightly know what all that means, but it sounds like some folks don’t give him the credit he deserves, and others just don’t like him for some reason. Mike Tyson, you know, the fella with the face tattoo? He said he’d be scared to fight Benavidez if he was still boxin’. That’s somethin’, comin’ from him. He knows a thing or two about punchin’, I reckon.
- And this fella, he’s young too, only 26 or so. Got a record like 28 wins and no losses, and most of them wins come by knockout. Means he hits hard, like I said. Took over the fight after the third round against Andrade, just started teein’ off on him, they say. Means he was punchin’ him real good, I figure.
Seems like this Benavidez is the real deal, a tough customer. They had a big fight in Las Vegas, and the place was packed. Near 14,000 people there watchin’ him do his thing. He’s from Phoenix, Arizona, so I guess folks there are real proud of him. He even had another fight lined up, against Jermall Charlo’s brother , Jos Benavdez Jr. Now, that Charlo fella, he’s a champion too, but his brother ain’t fightin’ for no title, just a special event kinda thing. Ten rounds, they said.
So, this David Benavidez scorecard, it’s more than just numbers, I think. It tells a story of how tough a fighter is, how hard he hits, how much he wants to win. And from what I can gather, this Benavidez fella, he wants to win real bad. He’s got that “power,” they say, and he ain’t afraid to use it. Makes you wonder how far he’ll go, this young fella from Phoenix. Maybe he’ll be the next big thing, you know? Only time will tell, I guess.
Anyways, that’s what I’ve heard about this fella. Just a bunch of folks talkin’, you know how it is. But they seem to think he’s somethin’ special, this David Benavidez. And that scorecard, whatever it says, just proves it, I reckon.
