You need a good throwin’ fella, a quarterback, they call ’em. Someone who can sling that ball far and accurate. Then you need some fast runners, the runnin’ backs, to get them yards on the ground. And big strong fellas to catch the ball, the receivers, gotta have sure hands, them boys. Don’t forget them big guys up front to block, like a brick wall, protectin’ your throwin’ fella.
Now, how do you know who’s good? That’s where the rankin’s come in, they say. Someone’s gotta figure out who’s the best, second best, and so on. Sounds complicated, but it ain’t rocket science. You look at how they played last game, how many times they caught the ball, how far they run, all that jazz. They use all sorts of numbers and stuff, but really, it’s just about who’s playin’ good and who ain’t. Like when you’re pickin’ berries, you want the plump, ripe ones, not the squished ones.

Sounds like somethin’ outta a science fiction movie, but it’s just fancy talk for guessin’ who’s gonna do good. And they got tools, they say, to help you trade players and stuff. Like tradin’ chickens for a pig, I guess, but with football players. You gotta be smart about it, can’t just pick any ol’ player. You want the ones that gonna get you them points.
And this point thing, that’s how you win, right? The more yards your players run and catch, the more points you get. Sounds simple enough, but I bet it gets complicated real quick. They got different ways of countin’ points too, somethin’ called “PPR”, means you get extra points for catchin’ the ball. So, you gotta pay attention to that, I reckon. Just like you gotta pay attention to the weather when you’re plantin’ crops, gotta know what you’re dealin’ with.
So, where do you find these rankings? Like I said, them internet places. They got all sorts of experts, or so they say, tellin’ you who to pick. They look at all sorts of things, how good the player is, who they’re playin’ against, if they’re hurt or not. Lots to think about, I tell ya. It ain’t just pickin’ names outta a hat. You gotta do your homework, they say. Like when you’re plannin’ a quilt, you gotta have a pattern, gotta know what you’re doin’.
They even got rankings for the whole season, and week by week. So, you can change your team every week, dependin’ on who’s playin’ good and who ain’t. It’s like tendin’ a garden, you gotta weed out the bad stuff and keep the good stuff growin’. And they got these things called “dynasty leagues”, where you keep your players from year to year. Sounds like a big commitment, like raisin’ a cow, you’re in it for the long haul. But if you wanna win, you gotta put in the effort, ain’t that the truth?
So, that’s the gist of it, this dee-bee fantasy football. Pick good players, get points, and win. Sounds easy enough, but I bet it ain’t. Just like farmin’, sounds easy enough, plant seeds, watch ’em grow, but there’s a whole lot more to it than that. But if you like football and you like strategizin’, then this might just be your thing. Just remember, pick good players, pay attention to the rankings, and don’t get too worked up about it. It’s just a game, after all. Just like checkers, but with more runnin’ around.
