Oh, now let me tell ya all ‘bout that 2012 BCS Championship game, like it was just yesterday! See, on January 9, 2012, them Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers met up for the big showdown over there at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. This wasn’t no regular ol’ game, no sir; it was the one to settle the score, to crown the national champion for the 2011 season. Everyone was talkin’ ‘bout it. Folks came from near and far just to see who’d come out on top.
Now let me tell ya, Alabama wasn’t messin’ around that night. Right from the start, they had a fire in their belly. LSU, well, bless their hearts, they just couldn’t break through Alabama’s defense, no matter how hard they tried. The whole thing ended up with Alabama takin’ it 21-0. Not a single point scored by LSU. Can ya believe that? That’s what folks called a shutout, and Alabama’s fans were over the moon, I tell ya.
Now this here wasn’t the first time these two teams went head-to-head that season. Naw, they had a game earlier in the regular season, and LSU won that one 9-6. But this here championship game was different. Alabama was ready, I tell ya, and they brought everything they had.
- Location: Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans
- Date: January 9, 2012
- Final Score: Alabama 21, LSU 0
Folks all sayin’ Alabama’s defense was the star of the show that night. It was like tryin’ to run through a brick wall, LSU couldn’t get nowhere. Every time they tried to make a play, there was Alabama, stoppin’ ‘em dead in their tracks. And that kicker, Jeremy Shelley, he was busy too, makin’ field goals left and right. He kicked five of ‘em, more than enough to keep Alabama way ahead. Folks still talk about how he made all them kicks that night.
Now, let me say a word ‘bout that LSU. They tried, bless ‘em, but they just couldn’t break through. They had the ball, but couldn’t get nowhere near Alabama’s end zone. I heard folks sayin’ it was like LSU got hit by a storm they couldn’t see comin’. Alabama was just that strong on defense.
By the end of it, when that clock ran out, Alabama fans were jumpin’ up and down, cheerin’ so loud, you could probably hear ‘em all the way back home. A 21-0 score, that’s not somethin’ ya see every day in a championship game! I reckon folks will remember that game for a long, long time. It was like a story outta a book, Alabama provin’ they were the top of the top, the true champs. And I tell ya, Alabama fans sure are proud to this day.
They called it the Allstate BCS National Championship Game, thanks to the sponsor folks, but to the fans, it was Alabama’s night to shine, plain and simple. LSU may have beat ‘em once in the season, but that didn’t matter none when it came to the big game.
All in all, that 2012 BCS Championship was a sight to see. Folks still talk about it like it was yesterday, Alabama’s big win, and that good ol’ defense that wouldn’t let LSU past. And let me tell ya, they’re still mighty proud down there in Alabama!
