Okay, so I’ve been messing around with some football stats lately, and I got into this whole Jude Bellingham versus Kevin De Bruyne thing. I wanted to see, like, really see, how they stack up against each other, beyond just watching them play.

First, I dug around for data. I used some, you know, free online databases, not super fancy, and I had to check if the data is correct. It was a bit of a pain to sort through it all, to be honest. Lots of tables and numbers, my eyes were kind of glazing over!
Getting My Hands Dirty
Next, I tried to organize everything. I focused on this season’s stats – things like goals, assists, pass completion, tackles, the usual stuff. I dumped it all into a spreadsheet. Very basic, just columns and rows, nothing too complicated.
- Goals: How many times did they actually score?
- Assists: How many times did they set up a goal for someone else?
- Pass Completion: What percentage of their passes actually reached a teammate?
- Key passess: What percentage of their key passes?
- Tackles & Interceptions: How good are they at winning the ball back?
Then came the fun part – making it look pretty! I played around with some simple charts and graphs, you know, bar graphs and stuff. This way, I could actually see the differences, instead of just staring at a wall of numbers.
I started comparing them side-by-side. And honestly, it’s pretty interesting! Bellingham, he’s a box-to-box monster, right? So, I expected him to have stronger defensive numbers. And De Bruyne, he’s the king of assists, so I figured his passing stats would be insane.
I am not giving the conclusion, I just show the data to compare and see what the numbers tell about it.
It’s not perfect, my little project. The data isn’t super in-depth, and I’m no expert. But it was cool to see how these two amazing players compare in a more, like, tangible way. I felt like a real football analyst for a little while there! Next time, maybe I’ll try comparing them to other midfielders, just to see how they fit into the bigger picture.
