Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Jesus Cabrera. Sounds like a big name, huh? I ain’t no scholar or nothin’, but I heard some folks talkin’, and I got my own two cents to throw in.
First off, this “Jesus” name, it’s been around a long time, I reckon. I heard some preacher once sayin’ it’s an old, old name, way back from some foreign country. Makes ya wonder, don’t it? All these folks named Jesus, they all the same? Prob’ly not. Like, there’s this Jesus Cabrera fella they talkin’ about now, ain’t the same as that Jesus from the Bible, that’s for sure.
Now, this Cabrera fella, seems like he’s been gettin’ himself into some trouble. I heard tell he almost cost someone their life. Lord have mercy! That ain’t right. Folks should be treatin’ each other decent, not causin’ harm. And then there’s talk about him bein’ indicted, somethin’ ’bout the officials and all. Sounds like a heap of trouble to me. When you mess with the law, ain’t nothin’ good gonna come of it, that’s what I always say.
But then you hear other things too. Like, there’s this other fella, Yess Cabrera, playin’ some kind of game with a ball. They call it “Deportivo Pereira” or somethin’. He’s from Colombia, far away I guess. They say he’s worth a lot of money, “market value” they call it. Imagine that! Folks puttin’ a price on a person. Seems kinda strange to me, but that’s how they do things in them big cities, I reckon.

And then there’s talk about another Cabrera, Jess Cabrera. This one’s a bit different, seems like he’s into makin’ fancy lights and screens for them big parties and nightclubs. Spain, they say. Fancy stuff, I bet. Not like the kinda lights we got here in the country, just plain ol’ bulbs to keep the dark away. But I guess folks in them cities like things flashy and bright.
It’s hard to keep all these Cabreras straight, you know? So many folks with the same last name. But that’s how it is in this world, I guess. And then there’s this talk about Ana Cabrera’s husband. Folks always wanna know ’bout other folks’ business, ain’t they? I ain’t one to gossip, but it’s hard not to hear things when folks are chatterin’ away.
This Jesus fella, the one gettin’ in trouble, I don’t know him from Adam. But it makes you think, don’t it? How one person can cause so much trouble, while another’s just kickin’ a ball, and another’s makin’ pretty lights. It’s a funny ol’ world, I tell ya. Makes you wonder what’s gonna happen next. Maybe this Cabrera fella will get things straightened out, maybe he won’t. Only time will tell.
And that’s all I got to say ’bout it. Just an ol’ woman’s thoughts on this Jesus Cabrera fella and all the other Cabreras out there. Life’s a puzzle, I tell ya, a big ol’ puzzle with pieces scattered all over the place. And sometimes, you just gotta shake your head and say, “Well, I’ll be…”
But remember, it’s important to treat folks right, no matter who they are or what their name is. That’s what my mama always told me, and that’s what I’m tellin’ you.
So, next time you hear the name Cabrera, you’ll remember this old woman’s ramblin’, won’t ya? There’s more to a name than just letters, there’s stories and lives and all sorts of things tangled up in it. And sometimes, those stories are good, and sometimes they ain’t. That’s just the way it is.
