Alright, listen up, y’all. Let’s talk about this Kirby Smart fella and them Colts, or whatever they call ’em.
Kirby Smart and the NFL – A Possibility?
Now, I ain’t no fancy football expert or nothin’, but I hear things, ya know? People talkin’ ’bout Kirby Smart, this coach from Georgia, the one with all them wins. They say he’s a real good coach, one of the best in college, they say. Won a bunch of games and got all them trophies, or somethin’ like that.
Some folks, they reckon he might go to the NFL someday. The NFL, that’s where the big boys play, with all the money and fancy stadiums. They say he could go coach one of them professional teams. Heard tell of the Chargers needing a coach, and this Kirby fella, he’s right up there with the best of ’em college coaches, maybe second or third best, dependin’ on who ya ask.
- He coached them safeties down in Miami for a while. Didn’t stay long though, just two seasons, they say.
- Married a gal named Mary Beth, or somethin’ like that. Good for him, I guess. A man needs a good woman, even if he’s coachin’ football.
Colts Connection – Way Back When
Now, here’s the thing about Kirby and them Colts. Turns out, he played for them a long time ago. Yeah, you heard that right. He wasn’t always a fancy coach, he used to be a player, tryin’ to make it in the big leagues. Went to school for that finance stuff, whatever that is, graduated in ’99 they say. But then, he didn’t get picked in the draft, poor fella. Nobody wanted him, can you believe it? So, he just signed up with the Colts as a free agent, tryin’ to make a name for himself.
He was a safety, just like them fellas he coached later on. Played for the Colts in ’99, but it didn’t last long. Guess he wasn’t good enough to play, but he was smart enough to coach, see? Funny how life works out, ain’t it?
Staying Put or Moving On?
Now, some folks say he ain’t goin’ nowhere. They say he’s happy where he is, coachin’ them Georgia Bulldogs. Winning all them games and gettin’ all that praise. Why would he leave all that for the NFL, they ask? He’s the big man on campus, top dog, king of the hill, whatever you wanna call it. And with that Saban fella retirin’, Kirby, he’s the new top dog in college football, livin’ up to all the big expectations.
But then, you hear other folks sayin’ he might get the itch. The NFL is a big draw, ya know? The money, the fame, the challenge of coachin’ against the best in the world. Maybe he wants to prove himself, show them NFL folks what they missed out on when they didn’t draft him. Maybe he wants that Bear Bryant Award, whatever that is – sounds fancy, though.
My Two Cents
Me? I don’t know what he’s gonna do. He’s a grown man, he can do what he wants. But I’ll tell you this, he’s a good coach, that Kirby Smart. He knows how to win, and he knows how to get them players to play hard. Whether he stays in college or goes to the NFL, he’ll do alright. He’s a smart fella, that Kirby. That’s why they call him Smart, I guess.
So, will Kirby Smart coach the Colts again? Who knows? Maybe someday, maybe never. But it’s somethin’ to think about, ain’t it? This whole football business, it’s always full of surprises. You never know what’s gonna happen next. That’s what makes it interestin’, I guess. Keep your ears open, you might hear somethin’ new. But for now, that’s all I got to say about Kirby Smart and them Colts.
And remember this, football ain’t everything. There’s more to life than winnin’ and losin’ games. Family, friends, good food, that’s what really matters. But a little football now and then, that don’t hurt none neither.
