Alright, so I wanted to make one of those cool “star in a jar” things I saw online. The idea is you have a lantern, and inside, instead of a regular light, you have a glowing “star”. I thought, “Okay, this looks simple enough, let’s give it a shot!” It’s called “raise lantern to ignite starazer”. I just make it up.

Gathering My Stuff
First things first, I needed to get all my materials together. This is what my shopping list looked like:
- A lantern: I picked up a cheap, rustic-looking one from a craft store. Nothing fancy, just something that looked like it could hold a magical star.
- Some kind of star: This took a bit of thinking. I ended up finding a star-shaped ornament made of thick, clear plastic. It had little facets, which I hoped would catch the light nicely.
- Lights: I grabbed a string of battery-powered LED fairy lights. I went with warm white because, well, stars are warm white, right?
- Batteries: For the lights, obviously.
- Glue:For fix the lights.
- Some tools: Just some basic stuff – scissors, wire cutters (just in case), and maybe some tape.
Putting It All Together
Okay, so with all my supplies laid out, I started building. Here’s how it went down:
- Prepping the Lantern: I opened up the lantern and took out any existing candle holders or anything that was inside. I wanted a clean slate.
- Getting the Star Ready:I use glue fixed lights in the star.
- Arranging the Lights:I put the star into lantern.
- Battery Placement:I put the battery into the star and turn on the switch.
The Moment of Truth
With everything assembled, I flipped the switch on the fairy lights… and boom! It worked! The light from the LEDs bounced off all the facets of the plastic star, creating this really cool, diffused glow. It totally looked like I had captured a tiny star in my lantern. And because of carefully position of lights, the whole thing cast these awesome star-shaped shadows on the wall. I am very satisfied.
Honestly, this project turned out way better than I * looks way better than the photos. I might even make a few more to give as gifts. It’s a super easy project, but the end result is pretty magical. If you’re looking for a simple, creative craft, definitely give this one a try!
