Alright, guys, so I’ve been trying to get that Roman Reigns haircut, you know, the slicked-back, powerful look. It’s not as easy as it looks, let me tell you! Here’s how my little experiment went down.
First Steps: The Grow-Out
First thing I did was, obviously, I stopped cutting my hair. I mean, you need some length to work with, right? It was awkward for a while, especially around the ears. I looked like a shaggy dog for a good few weeks. My wife kept giving me the side-eye, but hey, commitment, right?
The Styling Struggle
Once I had enough length, I started trying to style it. I showered, towel-dried my hair a bit, so it was still damp. Then, I grabbed some pomade. I’ve tried a few different kinds, and honestly, the one that works best for me is just some cheap stuff from the drugstore. Nothing fancy.
I scooped out a good amount – like, maybe a fingertip full – and rubbed it between my hands to warm it up. Then, I started working it through my hair, from the roots to the tips. The key, I found, is to really get it in there. Don’t just slap it on top.
The Slick-Back Technique
- I used my hands first, just pushing my hair back, trying to get that general shape.
- Then, I grabbed a comb – a fine-toothed one – and started combing it back, making sure it was all going in the same direction.
- I even tried using a hair dryer, on a low setting, to help it stay in place. It kinda worked, but it also made my hair a bit frizzy.
The Finishing Touches
So after all the combing and the product, I started to get the hang of it. It wasn’t perfectly Roman Reigns, but, come on, the guy is perfect. My hair’s not as thick as his, so it doesn’t quite have the same volume. I had used a bit of hairspray to hold all in place for a much better and clean look.
Overall it’s still needs to be practiced.
