Alright, so today I decided I was gonna nail this “blazing brilliance” thing in Wuwa. Heard folks talking about it, seen some clips, looked flashy. Figured, how hard can it be? Famous last words, right?

Getting Started – More Like Getting Stomped
Fired up the game, went straight to a training dummy area. Picked my usual character, the one I thought could pull this off. Watched a video again real quick, just to get the button presses in my head. Looked simple enough: dodge, attack, skill, quick swap, boom. Blazing brilliance, yeah?
Well, the dummy doesn’t fight back, but somehow I was still messing it up. My fingers felt like sausages. I’d dodge too late, attack too early, use the wrong skill. Most times, I just ended up doing a regular attack string, looking like a total newbie. It wasn’t very “blazing” at all. More like a “fizzling ember”. Spent a good hour just getting smacked around by my own timing, even in practice mode.
Trying to Figure it Out
Okay, deep breaths. Maybe it wasn’t just the buttons. I started fiddling around.
- Tried a different character? Nope, felt even clunkier.
- Changed some gear? Didn’t seem to make a difference to the timing part.
- Slowed down the video I watched? Yeah, okay, the guy in the video made it look smooth, effortless. Like breathing. Me? I was hyperventilating trying to keep up.
The tricky part seemed to be the tiny window after the dodge but before the character fully reset. You gotta hit that attack button right in that split second. Then the skill needs to follow instantly. It’s like trying to pat your head and rub your stomach while hopping on one foot. Except faster. Much faster.
This felt familiar, actually.

Reminded me of when I tried learning to juggle years ago. Bought those cheap juggling balls, thought I’d be a circus act in a week. Dropped them constantly. Got frustrated. Threw one across the room. Same energy here, just digitally. You see someone else do it, looks easy. You try it, and suddenly gravity works overtime, or your fingers forget their basic function.
Making Some Headway… Kinda
After another coffee and some more failed attempts, I started landing parts of it. I could get the dodge-attack bit sometimes. Or the attack-skill bit. Stringing it all together consistently? Still felt miles away. It’s one thing to do it once by accident, another to do it on command, especially when things get hectic in a real fight.
I spent maybe three hours straight on this. My eyes were getting blurry. Started seeing the attack animations when I closed them. Decided to call it quits for the day before I actually threw my controller this time. Not quite “blazing brilliance” achieved, more like “smoldering frustration”. But hey, I guess I dropped the juggling balls a little less often towards the end? Progress? Maybe.
Tomorrow’s another day. Might try again. Or maybe I’ll just go back to button mashing. Seems less stressful.
