Well, folks, seems like our Vladdy boy, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., done gone and cut his hair! Yup, that’s right. The long, wild dreadlocks that been swayin’ all over the field since he first stepped foot in the big leagues? Gone. He made this big change on June 19th, and let me tell ya, it sure caught a lot of eyes. Ain’t no one expected it, but sometimes folks gotta do somethin’ different, you know?
Now, why’d he do it? Well, turns out, ol’ Vladdy made a promise to himself. He said that once he hit five years in the big leagues, he’d cut his hair. A kind of milestone celebration, if you ask me. Seems like he felt like it was time to mark that big ol’ moment with a fresh look. And I reckon it’s been workin’ for him. Ever since he chopped off them locks, he’s been gettin’ more XBH (extra base hits) than strikeouts! Yep, he’s got 32 of them XBH, but only 21 strikeouts! Talk about makin’ good on a promise!
And let me tell you, that new haircut sure did turn some heads. You know how folks are always watchin’ athletes, lookin’ for anything different? Well, Vladimir definitely gave ’em somethin’ to talk about. He came out lookin’ real sharp, no more those long locks hangin’ down. Just a nice, clean look. You could say it’s like he’s starting a new chapter in his career—fresh hair, fresh attitude, and maybe, just maybe, better luck on the field.
But hey, it ain’t just the hair cut that’s got people talkin’. You know what else? Vladdy’s been doin’ pretty good despite all the changes in his personal life. Back in March 2023, he married his longtime sweetheart, Nathalie, after dating for over five years. And now they got two little girls together, Vlaimel and Vlaishel Guerrero. Ain’t that somethin’ to be proud of? They’re buildin’ a family, and Vladdy’s got that strong support at home, too. Makes ya wonder if it’s all that love and family that’s givin’ him that extra boost to play so well!
But don’t think that big ol’ haircut was all that happened lately. Vladdy’s been workin’ hard. His hit streak, you know, that run of games where he kept hittin’ good? Well, it got stopped at 22 games. Sure, he had a little rough patch when the Blue Jays lost to them Athletics, but it don’t take away from the fact that the boy’s been playin’ like a champ.
Now, the team’s been strugglin’ a bit, sittin’ below .500, and with them losses to the Red Sox, things ain’t lookin’ too hot. But that’s baseball for ya, ain’t it? You can’t win ’em all. Still, Vladdy’s new look sure does bring a little excitement back. He’s out there makin’ sure that even when the team’s havin’ a rough time, he’s still doin’ his best to keep the fans interested. Maybe that haircut’s got some magic in it, who knows?
So, what’s next for our boy Vladdy? Well, time will tell, but if I had to guess, I reckon he’ll keep swingin’ that bat like he always does. Maybe that fresh new cut will give him the spark he needs to lead them Blue Jays to some big wins. But no matter what, whether he’s got long hair or short, he’s still our Vladdy—full of heart, full of power, and always makin’ waves on that field.
