Okay, let me tell you about this thing I messed around with the other day – the “Talisman of All Crucibles.” Sounds fancy, right? It’s from that new Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree.
So, I got my hands on this Talisman. I heard some rumors, some lore, something about it being the “mother of Crucibles” and sprouting on giants, but honestly, I just wanted to see what it actually did.
First thing I noticed is it reduces the damage you take from critical hits and headshots. Sweet! But there’s always a catch, isn’t there? It also makes you take more damage overall. Kind of a mixed bag.
I decided to experiment a bit. I equipped the Talisman and started messing around with dodging. I immediately felt that my rolls were more effective. I was zipping around like a ninja, well, a slightly more vulnerable ninja.
- I tried out the Crucible Knot Talisman part of it first. It really does what it says on the tin – reduces damage and impact from headshots.
- Then I moved on to the Crucible Feather Talisman. My dodge rolls felt way better, but yeah, I definitely felt like I was taking more hits.
- Finally, the Fine Crucible Feather Talisman. This one was all about backsteps. They felt snappier, but I still felt like I was getting whacked harder than usual.
After spending some time with it, I realized this Talisman is all about trade-offs. You gain some advantages in specific areas, like dodging or taking less damage from headshots, but you also become more vulnerable overall.
I think it’s one of those things you really have to build your character around. If you’re a dodging god, maybe it’s worth it. Or if you’re constantly getting headshot by those pesky archers, this might save your bacon. But for a regular, run-of-the-mill Tarnished like me? I’m not so sure. I will do some test later.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure with the Talisman of All Crucibles. It’s a weird one, but hey, that’s Elden Ring for you. It definitely has the potential to change the way you play, so maybe give it a shot if you’re feeling brave.
