Alright, so today I finally got around to tackling the Shadow Over Ban Pa 2 task in Gray Zone. Had it sitting there for a bit, figured it was time.

First thing, geared up. Didn’t go too crazy, just my trusty M4, decent armor, plenty of water, and a couple of med kits. You never know how things will go, especially heading into Ban Pa. That place can be quiet one minute and a mess the next.
Got dropped off at the usual LZ nearby. The walk in wasn’t too bad, pretty quiet actually. Always got that feeling though, you know? Like eyes are on you. Kept my head on a swivel, moving between cover.
Into the Thick of It
Once I got closer to Ban Pa itself, things started picking up. Heard some distant shots, standard stuff. My task was pointing me towards one of the buildings near the center, looking for some kind of intel. Honestly, these tasks sometimes feel like finding a needle in a haystack.
Slinked my way into the village proper. Saw a couple of AI patrols milling about. Tried to avoid them initially, sticking to the edges of buildings, listening closely. Made my way towards the target building. It was one of those two-story ones with the wooden balconies.
Cleared the ground floor first. Couple of empty rooms, some junk scattered around. Nothing. Headed upstairs, real slow. That’s when I heard movement nearby. Peeked around a corner, saw an AI dude just standing there, looking the other way. Managed to drop him quietly.

Started searching the rooms upstairs. Desks, tables, shelves… flipping through papers, opening drawers. Found a bunch of useless stuff, typical loot. Then, in one of the back rooms, tucked under a pile of junk on a table, there it was. The documents or whatever they wanted me to find for this specific task. Grabbed it quick.
Getting out was a bit more lively. Seemed like dropping that one guy stirred the pot. Had a bit of a firefight near the edge of the village as I was trying to leave. Those AI can be surprisingly accurate sometimes, or other times they just stand there. These guys put up a bit of a fight, though. Used up a good chunk of my ammo and had to patch myself up once.
Managed to break contact and hoofed it back towards the extraction point. The walk back felt longer, probably just the adrenaline wearing off. Called in the chopper, waited nervously, always scanning the tree line. Thankfully, extraction was smooth.
So yeah, Shadow Over Ban Pa 2, done and dusted. It wasn’t too terrible, mostly involved careful movement and searching, with a sprinkle of action on the way out. Just another day in the zone, I guess. Glad it’s off the list.
