Saw that name, Liv Morgan, trending all over the place the other day. You know how it is, something pops up, and your curiosity just gets the better of you.

So, I did what most folks probably did. Fired up the computer, opened a browser, and typed the name in. Wanted to see what the fuss was all about.
Got a bunch of headlines, news bits, the usual stuff when something like this happens. Honestly, it just made me think about how quick things spread now. One minute someone’s known for one thing, the next, it’s something totally different.
Unexpected Detour
But here’s the funny thing. Seeing her wrestling stuff mixed in with all that news… it sent me down a totally different path. Didn’t really stick with the news story for long. Instead, it kicked off this memory, way back from when I was a kid.
My Backyard Wrestling Phase
Yeah, believe it or not, me and a couple of buddies tried to do that backyard wrestling thing. Must’ve been inspired by watching WWF or WCW back in the day. We thought we were gonna be the next big stars, you know?

- We dragged an old mattress out into Tommy’s backyard. That was our ‘ring’.
- Made some terrible costumes out of old clothes and Halloween masks.
- Tried to copy the moves we saw on TV. Mostly involved clumsy rolls and really bad ‘chops’ that just kinda slapped.
The Big Match
I remember this one ‘main event’ we planned. Me versus my buddy Dave. We hyped it up all week at school. My ‘finishing move’ was supposed to be this thing I called the ‘Thunder Slap’. Don’t ask.
So, the day comes. A few kids from the neighborhood actually showed up. We get in the ‘ring’ (the mattress). We circle each other. Then Dave tries a clothesline, misses completely, trips over his own feet, and lands face-first off the mattress onto the grass. He wasn’t hurt, just embarrassed. The whole ‘match’ lasted maybe 30 seconds.
That was pretty much the end of our wrestling federation. We realized it looked way easier on TV. Packed up the mattress, went inside for some snacks. Never really talked about our wrestling careers again.
It’s just weird, right? You start looking for one thing online, some bit of news everyone’s talking about, and you end up thinking about a dusty old mattress in a backyard from twenty years ago. The internet, man. And memory. Strange combination.
